I could see Ackers being released to find another club if he can't find the form we are looking for over the rest of the year. When players enter the last year of a contract, the conversation with them changes and it goes one of two ways, we want you to stay, or we won't be offering an extension and you are free to leave if you find something else.
I doubt Ackers would walk away from a contract that doesn't expire till the end of 2026 and I can't see the club being to keen to lose money by paying him off. When he returns in the next couple of weeks he knows ( especially if we are running with one hooker in the 17) that he'll have to produce his best. There's a good chance, like Lisone, that he might take his game up couple of levels and give BA another headache. He's a good player, Ackers, who for one reason or another hasn't quite shown it at Leeds - yet, but with a settled spine in place and the rest of the pack really starting to cook, I'd back him deliver his best over the next couple of months.
