What I heard is Vaughan’s family are to return to Australia at the end of this season whatever Vaughan’s next career move is. Vaughan had a year at Wire tabled, York then offered 2. Vaughany said to say he’d like to do a spell in the championship!? Which was a weird thing to say, then the York interest came out!
I’ve been very open with my thoughts on Vaughan. When he wants it, he is the best prop in SL. I can count all those times on one hand. His poor discipline has cost us more games than his good performances has won us.
He can go for me, far more consistent options in the NRL and with more years than a 35 year old.
Anyways, we’re talking to a prop at Canberra Raiders already. From what I’m hearing, Vaughany is as good as gone to York.
Ps, this site iOS mobile stability still sucks and that’s why I seldom post anymore.
We need your enthusiasm on here Rubber so get yourself a laptop. Aussies who are over here and have families at home must be tough. Life is short & I reckon family should stick together but we are all different.

| I'm not on Facebook (thankfully) but on the whole (from my experience) I thought Wire fans had turned the corner in that regard and were willing to give youngsters a go......we definitely seemed to have improved in that area - barring a few idiots.
Also I've heard Vaughan has signed for York and if the wages (I've heard) York are paying him are true.....then I'd cut the board some slack for not matching it, however much we'll miss him.

We can’t be a team of academy players, means we can have a good look at him for a potential move next year. Stone as far as I know is only on a deal to the end of this year?
The long term view of the club is academy produced players. This doesn’t change that.
the other problem is, people want academy players playing, until they dont. The wakey away game, you had people slagging jake thewlis off for having a bad game. The entire team was poor that day. Over a larger sample size i think he's filled in pretty well, he's not ashton, but for whats being asked of him, i can't fault him. He's almost a carbon copy of his brother (who people went after a few years ago after a couple of dodgy games) Wrench on sunday, he probably/definitely should have passed that ball, 99/100 the fb is expecting the pass, that comes off and sky are ing themselves silly about him having the confidence to do that sort of thing, as a youngster. In the grand scheme of things, where we are, howe we're playing he should have made the safe option of the pass, but again young player backing himself. People even had a pop at holroyd, who's been the model of consistency, he's limited in attack and arguably undersized, i've even seen people having a pop at irwin this weekend not being good enough/ready. our support base is arguably as problematic as the club itself. Fair points. Jake has done well I think filling in. As an understudy to Ashton he is fine. Wrench cannot really be classed as an academy player promotion now after making his debut 5 years ago(?) He needs to be putting down a marker to earn the starting centre shirt now. Holroyd is limited in attack and undersized at 13 stone currently. Surely there is no debate on that. But I'm looking forward to how he progresses, he has a massive heart. Ridiculous to criticise Irwin. There are some other players in the squad that I would like to know what is happening with their progression. Tupaea Bardsley-Rowe Green Thomas I am miffed about Whitehead being moved on due to "lack of opportunities" at 2nd row, and then we recruit a 2nd row.

Totally with you that our support base is a worry. How would anyone throw crap at Jake Thewlis/Holroyd ... it is just sick. We can't pretend that if we pick lots of youngsters then the negativity will stop. We have to be very careful judging our support base with those who post on Facebook or various forums. There is a group of people/fans who just don't get involved and don't enjoy the online "banter".

Tupaea Bardsley-Rowe Green Thomas I am miffed about Whitehead being moved on due to "lack of opportunities" at 2nd row, and then we recruit a 2nd row. Yes Wrench should have passed - and did in an almost identical position vs Catalan a couple of weeks before, I think he saw the cover coming across from Cas and wasn't confident Sneyd would make the line. I think the communication can be improved on whats happening with recruitment and the academy etc. You hit on a good point in terms of us knowing how the academy prospects are developing, would be good to hear from Chambers every couple of months on topics such as Recruitment / Retention, Development and progression of academy players, Scholarship and PDP progress and Community Club engagement. I know they can't always tell us who they are chasing and who they are letting go, but to know that we are avoiding signing new backrowers despite an apparent lack of depth because we have a player in the academy who is really promising is good to hear as a fan - just getting some insight in the the strategy rather than the specifics. On Whitehead specifically it seems to me he hasn't impressed enough in training to get a sustained run in the first team, with younger players coming up behind him who are perhaps more promising, seems reasonable to release him. If the youth system continues to improve we'll likely see more of it.

Good player from what Ive seen so should be another improvement on the squad for the rest of the season ( and hopefully he performs well enough that we try to negotiate a release from the remainder of his contract with Paramatta )
He's on $700k a year. There's no way we can afford him. He'll be back in the NRL next year.
