Ditto regarding Russell. I hope he starts to get it but I have never seen a player as slow at pushing across after the ball has gone past "his man" it is like there is a split second delay and he just can't quite read the opposition ball player. He appears to hold on the lead runner even the ball has gone and is in the hands of the opposition centre before he decides to slide. 
Hopefully that has just been a lack of confidence and has been rectified

Toby King and Ben Currie are sensational.

Hard to be critical after a display like that but Russell and Crowther are clearly not good enough for the level we need to be. Little go forward and always a mistake in them. Wood and Holroyd better options but we admittedly lose size but not effort. Vaughan led the forwards well and is, I think, worth another 2 years as he is fitter than most props?.we still need another big prop though. 

The last lad of that description I can remember got a Tissot watch off Stevo! A young Kevin Brown. 

Great win that tonight. Maybe a bit frustrating from a Wire POV that it's taken that level of adversity to pull out that sort of effort and desire but it bodes well that the fight is still there.

I bet against us this week, in all honesty I could not see a win and was gobsmacked we were giving them 2 on the handicap. Were we that good or were Saints really poor I?m not 100% but boy we needed that.

Agree with the plaudits for Currie.


In an era where we all felt a bit more optimistic we would all be raving about Dufty too. His ability to regain his balance when he has burst through a hole is unlike anything I've ever seen. Just a brilliant try again tonight (he has a whole portfolio v Saints) where Saints players were colliding with each other trying to get near. Plus the ridiculous catch between his legs for the Tai try.
