News in the T & A that the Bulls have announced they will play Hull FC in a pre-season friendly at the Provident Stadium on Sunday, January 19 (3pm kick-off).

Wonder if that's as part of gale deal

Think this week's weather was more than a gale.

I think this is a "we need some people paying on the gate between Xmas and the start of the season" deal.

Could generate a nice bit of money that game, hopefully more than 5k will turn up but I think it will cost more to stage the game than will be generated from it.

The usual 30k from Hull plus a few of ours...definite profit, it's not a concert.....

You'll be lucky if we bring 30 if you listen to all the doom and gloom on our board.

I seem to remember that a figure of £70,000 was quoted on these board as being the amount that it costs to even open the gates of Odsal and stage a game.

If that's correct we'd need 3500 just to break even, assuming its £20 on the gate.

I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong, but it sticks in my mind that the £70K figure was banded around as the reason why we seldom - at least until now - ever have pre season friendlies at home.

I'm definitely not him, and if there is absurdity it's in the idea that putting in an extra pre season game will make a dent in the £400K shortfall
